Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Aftercare
Aftercare for Aqualyx fat-dissolving injections: managing swelling, staying hydrated, what to avoid and when to call.
Straight after treatment
You can go back to normal activities straight away, but expect swelling, warmth and tenderness for a day or two while the treatment works.
- Rest the area, and avoid strenuous exercise or anything that strains it for at least 48 hours.
- Apply a cold compress, wrapped in a clean cloth, during the first 24 hours to ease swelling and tenderness.
- Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated helps your body clear the treated fat.
- Go easy on alcohol and caffeine for a few days.
The first week
- Avoid saunas, hot tubs and strong sun.
- Gentle massage or a compression garment may help — but only if John recommends it for your treatment.
- Keep an eye on the treated area and let us know if anything seems unusual.
What’s normal
- Swelling for 24–72 hours. Under the chin it can be quite noticeable.
- Warmth, tenderness, redness and itching, which settle over a day or two.
- Possible bruising, which fades within a week.
- The area can feel firm or lumpy for a little longer while your body clears the fat.
Longer term
- The area slims gradually over the weeks after each session. Between three and six sessions are usually recommended, depending on the area.
- Keeping your weight stable with a balanced diet and regular exercise helps maintain the result.
- Wear sunscreen on treated skin that’s exposed to the sun.
- Attend your follow-up appointments so John can review progress and plan your next session.
Contact the clinic if…
- Swelling or pain that’s getting worse rather than better after three days.
- Skin that becomes hot, red and spreading.
- Any sign of an allergic reaction, such as a rash, hives or swelling away from the treated area. Call 999 if you have any difficulty breathing.
- Anything that worries you.
