About Profhilo
Profhilo is an injectable made of pure, highly concentrated hyaluronic acid — but unlike a filler it doesn't add shape or volume. Instead it spreads through the skin over the days after treatment, drawing in water and prompting the skin to produce its own collagen and elastin. The result is skin that's more hydrated, firmer and more luminous, with fine lines and crepiness softened.
It's placed at five specific points on each side of the face, which keeps the appointment short and the injections to a minimum. Two sessions a month apart make up a course.

Is this treatment right for me?
Profhilo suits people whose skin looks dull, dehydrated or slightly lax — often from the mid-thirties onwards — and anyone who wants to improve skin quality rather than change shape. It's a popular first treatment for people new to injectables.
You may be suitable if…
- Your skin looks tired, dull or dehydrated
- You've noticed early laxity or crepiness, especially on the lower face or neck
- You'd like a natural glow without added volume
- You're not pregnant or breastfeeding
Your consultation will consider…
- Skin hydration, texture, fine lines and laxity
- Which product best matches your skin and goals
- The number of sessions and spacing for a proper course
- Your medical history, allergies and any recent treatments
What to expect
Before treatment
Your consultation with John looks at skin quality — hydration, fine lines, laxity and texture — and your goals, and checks your medical history. Skin boosters are a course rather than a one-off, so you'll leave with a plan for the number and spacing of sessions. For a few days before, avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen and supplements such as fish oil where safe to do so, as they increase bruising.
During treatment
After numbing cream, John places five small injections on each side of the face at set points — the product then spreads by itself. Each injection leaves a small raised bump that flattens over the next few hours. The appointment takes around 20–30 minutes.
After treatment
You'll leave with small bumps at the injection points that settle within a few hours. There's no visible change yet: the hydration and firming develop over the following weeks as the product integrates.
Watch
Results & longevity
Skin usually feels more hydrated within a week or two; the firming and glow build over four to six weeks as collagen and elastin production increases. The best results come after the second session, a month after the first. Results typically last around six months, after which a single maintenance session is usually enough to keep them going. Longevity depends on your age, skin condition and lifestyle — sun exposure and smoking shorten it.
Recovery, side effects & aftercare
Profhilo has very little downtime. The small bumps at the ten injection points are the main thing you'll notice, and they usually disappear within hours.
Side effects
Small raised bumps at the injection points are expected and usually flatten within hours; occasionally they take a day or two. Redness, tenderness and small bruises are common and short-lived. Uncommon effects include a lump that persists longer, mild infection, or an allergic-type reaction. Because these products are hyaluronic acid or naturally derived, serious reactions are rare.
Aftercare
Leave the injection points alone for the rest of the day — no make-up, no touching or massaging unless John has asked you to. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam and alcohol for 24 hours, and stay out of strong sun. Keep the skin well moisturised and use SPF daily; it protects the result.
Please contact the clinic if you notice spreading redness, increasing pain, a lump that grows rather than settles, or any skin colour change.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Profhilo a filler?
No. It's hyaluronic acid, but it isn't designed to hold shape — it spreads through the skin to hydrate and stimulate collagen. It won't change the contours of your face.
How many sessions do I need?
Two, a month apart, then a single maintenance session roughly every six months.
When will I see a difference?
Hydration within a couple of weeks; firmness and glow build over four to six weeks and peak after the second session.
Can it be used on the neck or hands?
Yes — the neck, décolletage and backs of the hands all respond well, and are often treated alongside the face.
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream is applied first. Each injection is a brief sting, and most people find the treatment very tolerable.
When can I wear make-up?
The next day. Keep the injection points clean and uncovered for the rest of the treatment day.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes — skin boosters work well alongside anti-wrinkle treatment, fillers and microneedling. John will suggest sensible spacing.
What happens at the consultation?
John assesses your skin, discusses what you'd like to improve, checks your medical history and recommends the product and course that fits — with clear pricing before anything is booked.
