About Thread Veins
Thread veins (telangiectasia) are tiny, permanently widened blood vessels that show as fine red or purple lines, most often around the nose and on the cheeks. They're common, harmless, and can be triggered by genetics, sun exposure, temperature changes, rosacea or simply age.
Advanced electrolysis treats each vessel with a very fine probe and a precise burst of heat, which seals the vessel so it fades from view. Small areas often clear in a single session, while more extensive veins can need two or three.

Key Benefits
- 01Visibly reduces fine red veins around the nose and cheeks
- 02Very precise — only the vessel is treated
- 03Quick sessions of 15 or 30 minutes
- 04Often visible improvement after one treatment
- 05Minimal downtime
- 06Suitable for most skin types
Is this treatment right for me?
This suits fine, flat red thread veins on the face. Larger, raised or blue veins (such as leg veins) and active rosacea flare-ups need a different approach, and people with very sensitive or reactive skin may need a patch test first.
You may be suitable if…
- You have fine red thread veins on the face
- The veins are small and flat rather than raised or bulging
- Your skin isn't currently irritated, sunburnt or broken
- You're happy to protect the area from the sun while it heals
Your consultation will consider…
- Medical history, including pacemakers, diabetes, blood thinners and pregnancy
- Skin type, healing and any tendency to pigmentation or keloid scarring
- Confirmation that the blemish is benign and suitable to treat
- How many sessions are likely to be needed
What to expect
Before treatment
Everything starts with a consultation, where Cinzia confirms the blemish is suitable to treat with advanced electrolysis and explains what to expect. Avoid self-tan, sunburn and active skincare (retinol, acids) on the area for a week beforehand, and arrive without make-up on the area.
During treatment
The skin is cleansed and each thread vein is treated with an extremely fine sterile probe, touching along the vessel at tiny intervals to seal it with a precise burst of heat. Most people feel a quick prickling heat, like a tiny spark, at each point; treatments are short and most clients don't need numbing.
After treatment
The area may look slightly red straight away. Cinzia applies a soothing product and gives you aftercare advice before you leave.

Results & longevity
Treated veins usually fade immediately or over the following few weeks as the skin heals. Small areas often need one session; more extensive veins may need two or three, spaced four to six weeks apart. Treated vessels don't return, but new thread veins can develop over time — sun protection and avoiding triggers such as extreme heat help.
Recovery, side effects & aftercare
The treated points will look slightly red or raised immediately afterwards, then tiny dry scabs form over the next day or two. These fall away within one to two weeks to reveal clearer skin.
Side effects
Redness, slight swelling and small scabs are expected. Less commonly, temporary darker or lighter marks can appear where the skin healed (more likely with sun exposure or picking), and, rarely, a small scar. Infection is uncommon with good aftercare.
Aftercare
Keep the area clean and dry, and don't touch or pick the scabs — let them fall away naturally. For 48 hours avoid make-up on the area, perfumed products, exfoliation, skin acids, saunas, steam and swimming. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily until fully healed, and avoid sunbeds and tanning.
Please contact the clinic if the area becomes increasingly painful, hot or swollen, weeps, shows signs of infection, or hasn't healed within three to four weeks.
- Downtime
- Minimal — tiny scabs for one to two weeks
- Redness
- Mild, around each treated point, settles within a day or two
- Swelling
- Slight, settles within hours to a day
- Bruising
- Uncommon
- Normal activities
- Straight away; avoid gym, sauna, swimming and make-up on the area for 48 hours
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the veins come back?
Treated vessels don't return, but new thread veins can form over time, especially with sun exposure, heat or rosacea. Occasional top-ups keep the skin clear.
How many treatments will I need?
A few small veins often clear in one session. More extensive areas may need two or three, four to six weeks apart.
Does it hurt?
You'll feel a quick, hot prickle at each point. Sessions are short and most people don't need numbing.
Can it treat leg veins?
No — this treatment is for fine facial thread veins. Leg veins are larger and usually need sclerotherapy from a medical practitioner.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
Avoid make-up on the treated area for 48 hours so the skin can begin healing cleanly.
Is it suitable if I have rosacea?
Thread veins linked to rosacea can be treated when the skin is calm, but flare-ups need managing first. Cinzia will assess your skin at consultation.
